Amazon Product Page Redesign
Client
PSYC 6023: Psychological Research Methods for HCI
Description
The usability of shopping for a book on Amazon.com was studied, specifically based on the unique needs of older adults. Then a new layout was designed, to meet those needs without taking away from the needs of other user groups.
In order to create final recommendations, the following methods were used:
- Literature Review
- Accessibility Evaluator
- Focus Group of 6 older adults
- Surveys
The final recommendation is based on a scrolling sidebar that follows the user as they scroll the page. In addition, sales prices have also been changed to green, and font styling has been changed to emphasize the relationship between descriptors and their content (i.e. 'Title' and the product title).
