AutoTrader.com Business Development

Description

This project was assigned to me during a summer internship at AutoTrader.com. There was a desire among the business development team to learn more about how Generation Y saw the AutoTrader website and how it could be improved to meet the needs of this technology savvy audience. This effort was pushed by Tomo Tsunafuji, another intern in the program.

I interviewed the majority of the interns to discover their thoughts about the site, including things they found particularly useful and those they felt were unnecessary. I also looked at statistics regarding page visits in order to make final decisions about link placement on the screen. Finally, I utilized business analytics to ensure the newly designed site would generate similar or greater revenue as compared to the current site (in regards to ad placement and sizes).

In order to create final recommendations, the following methods were used:

  • Structured Interviews
  • Unstructured Interviews
  • Data Analysis
  • Wireframes
  • Mock-Ups
  • Tools
  • Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop
