LCC 3710: Principles of Interaction Design
Description
In an effort to learn more about user centered design, Gillian Crampton Smith's five features of well designed interactivity were used to write a critique of a digital artifact. I chose to critique Groupon based on my familiarity with the site and the novelty of its use/user groups.
Gillian Crampton Smith's five features of well designed interactivity are as follows:
- Clear mental model: There must be a clear model in the mind of the user/player for how the digital artifact works.
- Feedback: Well-designed interactivity provides reassuring feedback so that the user/player knows they have affected change in a meaningful way.
- Navigability: The paths for movement through well-designed interactivity are clear.
- Consistency: Well-designed interactivity is consistent and logically builds upon the commitment of the user/player.
- Intuitiveness: Well-designed interactivity allows the user/player to focus on the experience, not the use of the digital artifact.
